Set an achievable goal

Setting an achievable goal, means reaching for something that is realistic. I’m not saying to stop dreaming big, but starting small is a great way to begin. Having a goal that is possible to reach, is that much more motivating for you. Goals provide us with direction, and help us focus. If you are able to set achievable goals and reach them, you have that much more control over your life and well being.

Choosing the right fitness activity is important because you don’t want to be stuck doing something you don’t like.  If you’re not into running, don’t force yourself to do it! Maybe you like swimming or cycling better. You should choose an activity or exercise that you genuinely enjoy. This will definitely help you reach your fitness goals because you won’t be dreading what’s to come. Of course, you will be pushing yourself, but that’s ok. As long as it’s something you like enough to get you out of the house and being active.

Allowing yourself time

Great things don’t happen overnight. With hard work and dedication, you’ll sure to reach your goals. At times, it can be discouraging if you aren’t seeing instant results. But allow your mind and body to have time to adjust and transform. The goal of transforming your body becomes a part of your life, and is definitely a long term goal. Patience is key.

Establishing a training schedule

Once you have a training schedule or routine, this will push you to get outside and start working toward your goal! Ask your personal trainer questions, and work together to figure out the right routine for you. Everyone is different, and what may work for one person, might not work for another. Consistency is important, so make sure you are going to be able to commit this schedule. It’s okay if you are having an off day. Don’t get yourself down if you miss a couple days. What matters is to keep pushing, and not give up!

Going beyond its simple objective 

Whatever your resolution for 2022 may be, the deeper you dig, the more benefits you will reap from this journey. Go above and beyond! Sign up for a gym membership, invest in exercise equipment to workout at home, hire a personal trainer and eat healthier. Surround yourself with those who are healthy and active.

La Jolla Kayaking-Kayaking is a fun way to get outdoors and explore the beautiful waters of La Jolla! You can sign up for a guided tour, or rent your own kayak. A great activity for the whole family!

Biking in La Jolla-There are quite a few different bike paths to discover in La Jolla. Enjoy the beautiful coastline while exercising. This will definitely motivate you! You might even want to start doing this on the daily! These bike paths are mostly paved and wider than trails so that you have room for comfort.

  • Rose Creek Bike Trail (1.1 miles)
  • Rose Canyon Trail (6.5 miles)

Hiking in La Jolla-There are some incredible trails in La Jolla, California. Get outdoors in the fresh air, bring your family, friends, or dog along. There are so many ways to be active and have fun at the same time!

  • Yucca Point Trail (1.2 miles, easy)
  • Saigon Trail (0.7 miles, hard)
  • La Jolla Beach Trail (2.3 miles, easy)
  • San Clemente Canyon Trail (2.7 miles, easy)

Surfing in La Jolla- Surfing is a very healthy sport. Getting in the water is refreshing, and therapeutic. It’s never too early (or too late) to start! Once you get the hang of it, there are so many beautiful surf spots to enjoy on a daily basis throughout La Jolla and San Diego.

The Coggan Family Aquatic Complex is a nationally renowned aquatic center located in La Jolla. It’s open year round to the public. They also offer swim lessons, swim team, and water polo if you are looking for something active for the kids to do as well!
